Battersea Dogs and Cats home upgrades retail IT

Point-of-sale system will improve stock management

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, the famous charity for lost and abandoned animals, has ordered a complete point-of-sale system for retail sales at its three centres.

The system will help it manage price updates on all tills simultaneously and enable sales data to be collated and analysed for improved stock management.

Three till units will be installed at its Battersea and Old Windsor shops this year and a further unit at its Brands Hatch site next year.

Two more units will be used during shows to promote the charity’s work in rescuing and reuniting pets with owners or finding new homes.

Director of fundraising Fiona Healey-Hutchinson says the system provides a cost effective tool to better serve customers and supporters at its outlets.

‘Our stores are full of high quality products, such as collars, bowls, toys and books, which help our supporters be responsible pet owners and contribute to our fundraising efforts,’ she said.

CSM Retail Solutions is providing NCR software and hardware to the charity, which replaces its current point-of-sale system that requires staff to key in product price changes individually to each till.

The deal also includes help desk support, ensuring repair or maintenance within four hours to limit system downtime.
