Oracle phases in PeopleSoft upgrade
Enterprise software giant Oracle is edging PeopleSoft users towards a Fusion future
Honouring its promise to maintain and upgrade programs inherited through its recent acquisition spree, Oracle last week released PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management 9.0, the first module of the PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9.0 suite.
The enterprise software giant said that it had made hundreds of changes to PeopleSoft Enterprise, many of them aimed at improving usability. They include an improved customer service agent capability, more corporate governance assistance, and enhanced management tools for human relations, business performance, asset monitoring and supplier relationships, according to Oracle.
The release will also build in integration with Oracle Fusion Middleware via links to Oracle tools including XML Publisher, Business Activity Monitoring, Customer Data Hub, and BPEL Process Manager.
The bridging exercise will also assist users planning to eventually move up to the Oracle Fusion suite of enterprise applications that is intended to provide the best features of Oracle, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards suites.
Separately, Oracle said it is swapping out the IBM DB2 infrastructure underlying its Siebel OnDemand CRM service for its own database software.
