Oracle continues spending spree
Acquisition of software firm confirms aggressive strategy
Oracle has made another acquisition
Oracle is continuing its buying spree with the acquisition Netsure Telecom, a supplier of network intelligence, analytics and network data integrity software.
The acquisition is completed later this year, the company said.
Oracle has spent more than $25bn (£12.4bn) on smaller software companies in the past two years, including the acquisition of Hyperion for more than $3.3bn (£1.7bn) and PeopleSoft for $10.3bn (£5.1bn).
There is no sign of a slowdown in the database giant's acquisition strategy, said Ovum senior vice president David Mitchell.
‘The communications industry is important for Oracle, being one of the sectors with a high reliance on IT and consequently, strong software spend,’ he said.
‘The latest acquisition is one in a long chain of communication industry acquisitions.’
Oracle has always been a major software player in the communications industry with market share dominance in its database technology, said Mitchell. And its acquisitions have turned it an even more significant player in the market.
Oracle chief executive Larry Ellison was adamant on presenting its financial results that Oracle would make at least as many acquisitions this year compared to last year.
