System revs data recovery
SANSymphony 'Traveller' CDP solution hopes to help sites recover from attacks.
System revs data recovery
Virtualisation storage software vendor Datacore last week announced Traveller, a continuous protection and recovery (CPR) system designed to allow admins to roll back to any previous point in time prior to disruptive physical events like extreme weather or network attacks by malware.
Datacore chief George Teixeira argued that the only way to totally safeguard data was to monitor all I/O operations. “Traveller logs and time stamps all the I/O changes to data asynchronously, without impacting production,” he said.
Traveller supports Windows, Linux, VMWare, Netware, MacOS, Solaris, AIX, Unix, Exchange, SQL, Sybase, and Oracle, as well as all storage types. Pricing starts at around £36,000 + VAT for the complete system, but an upgrade for firms using Datacore’s SANsymphony runs at about £16,000 + VAT.
