Council helps smaller businesses to tender for contracts online
The council is working with 40 small and medium-sized firms to enable electronic interaction
Caerphilly County Borough Council has extended its eprocurement system to eliminate paper processes and encourage local businesses to bid for contracts.
The local authority has implemented Proactis’ eSourcing and eCommerce applications to meet government objectives of supporting small firms’ participation in public procurement markets.
Local businesses without ecommerce capabilities will be able to trade with the council and other organisations online.
‘We wanted to ensure that local traders are treated equally by creating an online community for procurement, allowing firms to transact business online,’ said Elizabeth Lucas, head of procurement.
The council is working with 40 small and medium-sized firms to help them develop their own web sites and interact electronically with the council.
