Adobe profit up 52 per cent

Web design suite and Acrobat deliver increased first quarter revenue

Adobe's PDF file reader has helped grow Acrobat sales

Web software supplier Adobe announced revenue of £446m ($890m) for the first quarter of 2008, 37 per cent up on the £325m ($649m) posted in the same period of 2007.

Net quarterly income reached £110m ($219m) compared to £72m ($144m) in 2007, exceeding analyst expectations and representing a 52 per cent rise.

The company cited strong demand for its Creative Suite 3 web design product family, combined with steady sales of its Acrobat portable document format (PDF) file reader as the reason behind the positive financial results.
