Celtic Football Club tightens defence
System will protect against spam and denial of service attacks
Celtic has improved its email defences
Celtic Football Club is overhauling its security systems to block threats before they hit the corporate network.
The system, from vendors Dns and Postini, positions security defences between the internet and the corporate network. Dns has integrated the Postini email scanning engine into its system.
David Howell, IT manager at Celtic FC, says the complexity of the threat landscape has made managing security in-house too complicated and risky.
'The Postini scanning engine offers a very clear interface and we now have access to more information in real time,' he said. 'The transition was completely painless and, thanks to Dns, we are secure in the knowledge that our network is safe from spam and virus attacks.'
The Pass Thru technology only lets legitimate traffic through to the network, avoiding heavy bandwidth consumption and preventing costly distributed denial of service attacks.
All incoming messages are routed through secure data centres and scanned by a rules engine which analyses every part of each message before it reaches the recipient, with virtually no latency.
