118-118 improves number accuracy

Risk of bad data now 'totally eliminated', says the company

Directory service 118-118 is using business rules software to improve data accuracy and guarantee customers are given the right numbers.

The system, provided by DataFlux, allows 118-118 to enhance data quality by rapidly targeting duplicate records.

'Because we take hundreds of millions of calls, even the tiniest errors are unacceptable,' said 118-118 data & development director Andrew Larter.

'Our data processing volume and error correction operates on a very large scale.

'The software enables us to offer even better information and accuracy to our customers,' he said.

118-118 creates business rules to automate the correction of data records, with standard processes focusing on company initials, business names, addresses and numbers.

Staff can also customise rules to correct inaccurate information.

118-118 has now completely resolved the risk of duplicated records, says Larter.

'We were able to totally eliminate the risk of bad data,' he said. 'We will continue to use the solution to control and enhance future data inputted into the system and we look forward to expanding our use of the technology,' he said.
