Tesco is planning to separate its e-business arm from its core supermarket business. The group is expected to announce a split for TescoDirect next week. Tesco will own the new division and the move is widely believed to be an attempt to get finance for the supermarket's e-business arm. Tesco's expansion plans for its e-business operation have been hampered by the company's currently low stock market valuation. However, if the e-business arm was separated it could attract investment or even be floated.
