Recruitment firm adds search tool to aid database

Hudson opts for Google's enterprise search product

Recruitment firm Hudson is using search technology to manage its European database of candidates more effectively.

The adoption of Google Search Appliance (GSA) as a critical business tool is part of a major technology and processing re-engineering project that will incorporate a new web-based front-office system called TalentDesk for all consultants.

The system allows staff to create new client assignments, attract and assess candidates, and send out invoices. It will replace a variety of legacy systems when it is rolled out across Europe, with the UK due in April 2007.

‘Only 15 to 25 per cent of placements are made from candidates found in our database. We hope to increase that figure as GSA gives us the ability to find a needle in a haystack,’ said Laurent Chen, chief information officer of Hudson Europe.

In a trial GSA was installed on the network and customised so that candidate profiles are merged with CVs. Search results are much faster, which is expected to lower costs per placement as well as increase the success rate for filling positions.
