UK telco NTL confirms job cuts
NTL has confirmed rumours of swingeing job cuts. A total of 6,000 jobs will disappear by the end of next year as a result of headcount reductions and a strategic outsourcing move.
Actual job losses will be about 3,400 but other jobs will be outsourced. The changes will save the company about £250m annually, NTL chief executive Steve Burch added.
Separately, the firm said that integration with Telewest is going well. Revenues from business customers account for about a fifth of the new company’s sales.
