Outsourcer aims to raise its game
Reseller Computacenter has launched best practice tools to help firms manage their IT infrastructure
IT reseller and services provider Computacenter has continued its push into the outsourcing market with the launch of a best-practice framework to lower the cost and improve the consistency of its IT infrastructure services.
Computacenter said the Itil-based guidelines, dubbed the Shared Services Factory, draw on experience gained on the firm’s most successful projects. The framework can be used to create a flexible set of standards for all infrastructure services projects, it added.
Neil Muller, director of managed services at Computacenter, said the company has invested £30m in the project. The initiative includes support from service centres in the UK, Germany and Spain and a central knowledge database that allows its practice managers to pick out the best tools and processes, he added.
“The more we can systematise our delivery the more we can drive down unit costs and deliver consistent processes,” Muller said.
