IBM to hold summit on sustainability

Big Blue partners with Prince Charles's Start initiative

IBM will be holding its Start summit from 8 September

IBM will be holding a summit on sustainability in business at Lancaster House in London this Wednesday.

The event aims to explore ways in which to ensure a sustainable future within business.

The company said that it hopes the summit will illustrate the challenges businesses face, and provide a new starting point from which to address environmental issues.

Stephen Leonard, chief executive at IBM UK and Ireland, said: "The summit is not just about what businesses can do for sustainability, but how sustainability can improve businesses.”

Speakers at the summit will include former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, Dragons Den’s James Caan and Christopher Graham, the UK’s Information Commissioner.

The proposed topics include: smarter cities; smarter energy; smarter transport; people and skills; start young, which will target new entrants to the market; finance and sustainability; and smarter supply chains.

The nine-day conference begins on 8 September and forms part of the Start initiative, inspired by The Prince Of Wales.
