Probation Service seals £250m deal for infrastructure
Offender management systems are part of joined-up justice agenda
The Probation Service has signed a £250m deal to develop the Offender Management National Infrastructure (Omni) as part of plans to provide a single view of offenders from sentence to probation.
The six-year deal with supplier Steria will integrate Omni with Prison Service technology as the two organisations merge into a single National Offender Management Service (Noms). Omni will replace Steria’s Probation Service contract, Steps1, when it expires at the end of this year.
‘The new contract provides a flexible solution to Noms’ long-term IT needs,’ said Mike Manisty, Noms head of Offender Information Services.
