OpenAjax Alliance launches web site
Resources include OpenAjax Hub with details of JavaScript components
The OpenAjax Alliance today launched a new web site to promote use of Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax) web technology.
The site features details of the OpenAjax Hub, a set of JavaScript components defined by the industry coalition to overcome interoperability problems that occur when differing Ajax libraries are used on the same web page.
Rod Smith, IBM's vice-president of the emerging technology software group, said, "The alliance is about how we as vendors make Ajax a safe technology, to adopt standards we should be working on, identify the holes in the technology we need to fix, and [facilitate] the interoperability between toolkits. Ajax adoption has happened quickly but there is still a long way to go."
The group also announced that its membership – including heavyweights such as Google, Mozilla and BEA – has almost doubled since it was launched in February this year.
Aside from increased interoperability, the technologies being developed by OpenAjax will enable web developers to reduce development costs and speed up delivery, Smith added.
