AstraZeneca signs BT for £25m network

The five year deal will support 131 business locations based in 60 countries

Bt will support AstraZeneca's operations for the next five years

Pharmaceuticals manufacturer AstraZeneca has signed a £25m deal with BT to support its network connections around the world.

The five year contract will see BT deliver a managed network connecting 131 AstraZeneca sites based in 60 countries worldwide. The company's systems require the relaying of six terabytes of data every day, the equivalent size of 2000 feature length films.

The new network will give AstraZeneca's worldwide staff a single platform for the use of video, voice and other converged services, according to chief information officer Richard Williams.

"The service model that we have developed will ensure BT services will deliver greater agility, responsiveness and collaboration among our global workforce," said Williams.
"This in turn, will lead to improved overall business performance.”
