Compuware enhances portfolio with acquisition

Compuware snaps up service management specialist

IT management software specialist Compuware will enhance its portfolio this week with the acquisition of service management software vendor Proxima.

The $31million deal will see Proxima's flagship Centauri product brought under the Compuware brand, giving customers the ability to align their IT departments with the needs of the business more effectively.

Centauri software can also provide businesses with service level management capabilities to enable the monitoring of service levels and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), according to Proxima.

The acquisition will complement Vantage, Compuware's existing end user monitoring and application performance management product, which is designed to simplify the service level management process, said the firm.

"Most business processes today are dependent on IT, therefore, being able to align IT services with the business processes they enable is paramount," explained Compuware's director of product management Steve Tack. "By acquiring Proxima, we will be able to offer customers a more effective way to do this in combination with our service management and portfolio management solutions."
