WebSideStory to rename as Visual Sciences

WebSideStory branding change signals emphasis on multichannel intelligence

WebSideStory has changed its name to Visual Sciences, signalling its emphasis on broader business intelligence (BI) over pure internet analytics.

WebSideStory merged with the smaller Visual Sciences in February 2006 and has since retained both brands but will now take on the latter moniker to reflect its wider interests. Current customers include Dell, Warner Brothers, Vodafone and YouTube.

“The traditional BI market is static and separate from web analytics,” said Simon Gibbard, Visual Sciences business development manager.

“What customers want is a BI tool that can understand web data, e-commerce and multi-channel businesses. We won’t replace a Teradata or a SAS but we will complement them.”

Separately, the company announced availability of HBX Analytics 4.0.
