LanDesk unveils process management update

LanDesk Process Manager 4.0 is designed to help firms deliver consistent and repeatable execution of business processes and common IT tasks

IT management software specialist LanDesk has today unveiled an updated version of its process management suite, featuring enhanced online workflow management and automation capabilities and tightened integration with Microsoft Active Directory and BMC's Remedy helpdesk software suite.

Steve Workman, vice-president of product management at the company, said that LanDesk Process Manager 4.0 would help firms deliver consistent and repeatable execution of business processes and common IT tasks. He added that the new version also featured "an online resource centre with a number of predefined templates that are customisable, easy to use, and help just about any department in an organisation meet compliance needs and organisational objectives".

The new templates cover a range of common processes, including patch management, provisioning for Microsoft’s Windows Vista and other server and desktop operating systems, asset lifecycle management and new hire requisitions.

LanDesk said that improved integration with Active Directory would bolster the suite’s identity and security management capabilities, while closer ties with Remedy Service Desk would help firms streamline IT support processes.

A new reporting module, capable of monitoring IT and business processes, would also make it easier for managers to ensure processes are optimised, LanDesk said.

The new suite is available immediately from $35,000 for organisations with fewer than 1,000 employees and from $190,000 for enterprises with over 10,000 staff.
