Banco Santander has signed a €100m (£93m) deal with Accenture for a range of IT services covering its worldwide operations.

Services included in the two-year contract will comprise systems integration, consulting, business process management, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing.

The Spanish bank’s portfolio includes UK banks Abbey National and Alliance & Leicester, as well as Royal Bank of Scotland's European consumer finance unit.

Initially, the focus of the contract will be the integration of the group’s UK businesses, as well as the introduction of change management.

In addition, the Accenture deal will see the development and implementation of IT strategies covering Santander's operations in Spain, Portugal, the UK, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
