Logica wins £12.5m private cloud deal with Skandia

Skandia moves financial services to a private cloud

Savings solutions provider Skandia has awarded a £12.5m contract to IT services specialist Logica, which will move some of the company’s key systems to a private cloud.

The three-year contract will see Logica provide an outsourced infrastructure management solution for Skandia’s business-critical financial systems and applications.

Logica will provide services around clustered datacentres and maintenance of 950 servers.

The system will have an in-built flexibility that will help Skandia adapt and scale its IT systems to changes in business demand.

Speaking about the project with Logica, Pierre Strandelin, CEO, Skandia Informations­teknologi [a company within the Skandia group that provides information and application management services], said: “A large part of the delivery related to this contract consists of services that are critical to the business. Therefore, it was key that our outsourcing partner was able to provide a reliable service with a high level of security. Logica clearly demonstrated an understanding of our requirements in this respect.”
