Websense released its findings last week, and warned computer users how easy it is for attackers to compromise and control online machines.
Websense said most compromised computers are controlled through web-based systems like IRC and HTTP. “Using HTTP to control the bots and trigger them to upload their information creates another area where security professionals need to investigate possible infections and takedowns.”
Websense added that such machines could be used to steal company data and customer records, using keylogging tools.
