Asda improves in-store security management

Retailer will use nationwide system to reduce theft and improve operational shop running

Written by Angelica Mari

Supermarket chain Asda will use a system to remotely control and monitor security equipment throughout 81 stores across the UK.

The software will cover in-store CCTV, article surveillance systems, power fence and intruder alarms and will be used by Asda's corporate security team to manage in-store security.

The retailer hopes to reduce theft and improve operational efficiency, said Asda's head of security Sean Bowen.

“We have a business goal which is 'we operate for less,' meaning that we run our business as efficiently as we can with the benefit reflected in the low prices we can offer our customers, " he said.

"This project will enable us to operate a more effective loss-prevention policy, while reducing our in-store operating costs.”

The software was provided by supplier Cinario.
