Industry Voice: A moment I’ll always remember: An interview with double UK IT Awards winner Glasswall

The UK IT Awards celebrate and promote the best organisations, teams, projects, technologies and individuals that shape our digital world. This year, Glasswall took home two of the coveted awards.

Computing caught up with Paul Farrington, Chief Product Officer at Glasswall which won Security Innovation of the Year, and with Connor Morley, Principal Malware Security Researcher who took home the Security Professional of the Year gong.

How did they feel about their personal and company achievements and what impact have their wins already had at Glasswall and why did they think their entries stood out in a crowded field?

What did you think of the awards event itself?

Paul Farrington:
The event was a fantastic showcase of the UK’s achievements in technology and innovation. It brought together a great mix of talent, and it was inspiring to see so many groundbreaking ideas being recognised. The organisers did a brilliant job of creating an evening that truly celebrated the progress and impact of the tech industry.

Connor Morley:
It was a really enjoyable evening, and it’s always exciting to be surrounded by so many people who are passionate about pushing technology forward. The atmosphere was vibrant, and it felt like a proper celebration of all the hard work happening across the industry.

How did you feel when you heard that your entry had won?

Paul:
It was such a proud moment! The competition was incredibly tough, so hearing our name called for Security Innovation of the Year was a real highlight. Glasswall Halo represents the hard work of the entire company, so it’s great to see that recognised. Moments like this remind you why you put in the effort to innovate and push boundaries.

Connor:
Winning Security Professional of the Year was surreal. It’s an honour, but more importantly, it’s a reflection of the culture and teamwork at Glasswall. None of what I’ve achieved would have been possible without the brilliant people I work with. It’s a moment I’ll always remember and a reminder of how rewarding this field can be.

What do you think made your entry stand out?

Paul:
I think it’s our unique approach to cybersecurity. Glasswall is proactive—we focus on preventing threats before they happen, rather than reacting after the fact. Our technology is designed to integrate easily with network appliances, enterprise software, and cloud storage—making it straightforward for organisations to adopt. The judges likely saw how we’re solving real-world problems in a way that’s both effective and practical.

Connor:

I’d also say it’s about how we tackle the balance between security and usability. With so many organisations adopting zero-trust policies, it can sometimes feel like productivity takes a back seat. Glasswall bridges that gap, enabling businesses to stay secure without compromising on functionality. That combination of innovation and practicality really resonates, and I think that’s what stood out to the judges.

What does the win mean for your team, and your organisation? How will it help you?

Paul:
This win is a huge boost for our team. It validates the hard work we’ve put into developing solutions that really make a difference. It also strengthens our credibility as we continue to grow in both government and commercial markets. For us, it’s not just about celebrating the recognition—it’s about using it as motivation to aim even higher.

Connor:
It’s definitely a proud moment for all of us. This recognition not only validates what we’ve achieved so far but also helps us build momentum for what’s next. It’s a great way to attract new talent, build stronger relationships with our partners, and keep pushing forward with our mission.

What does the future hold for your organisation - what are the priorities for the next 12 months?

Paul:
The next year is all about scaling and building on the foundations we’ve laid. We’re focusing on enhancing our integrations with Microsoft 365, advancing our cloud storage monitoring capabilities, and developing predictive malware detection technology. The idea is to identify threats even before they’re reverse-engineered by threat intelligence firms. With AI driving these innovations and patents already in place, we’re gearing up for some exciting launches in 2025.

Connor:
Alongside that, we’re committed to fostering a collaborative and creative team environment. Tackling the challenges of a constantly evolving cybersecurity landscape requires agility and fresh thinking. Over the next year, we’re focused on maintaining our momentum, staying ahead of emerging threats, and continuing to lead the way in proactive cybersecurity. I’ve never worked in an organisation that takes security research from concept to market as quickly and effectively as Glasswall does.

Wrap-Up Statement

Paul:
Winning these awards is a great milestone, but it’s also just the start of something bigger. Glasswall is in an exciting phase of its journey, and we’re looking forward to what’s next.

Connor:
This recognition is a brilliant achievement, but it’s just the beginning. We’re ready to build on this success and take things even further in the months ahead.
