In modern times, information technology has become an essential and indispensable part of every business plan. Its usage is no longer limited to multinational firms that manage large-scale mainframe systems and databases, but also extends to small businesses that may only own a single computer.
The UK IT Industry Awards are the largest and most well-known event in the technology industry calendar. Owned and operated by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and Computing, the awards enjoy a level of professionalism and industry knowledge not seen at other shows.
This year's winners will be announced at a live awards ceremony on Wednesday 8th November in London.
One of the finalists is Open GI, who is in the running for the Development Team of the Year.
We caught up with Steve Redding, Head of Software Development at Open GI to ask him more about the company's priorities for the next 12 months.
Open GI has been delivering - for a number of years - products to customers that has changed the way they run their business, Steve says.
"But what makes us different is how we continuously strive to innovate on that. Not just in how we work internally and the culture we build, but also how we work with our partners and our customers to help us deliver value of products that they can use."
Steve emphasises that their key focus in their current projects is "customer happiness".
"We already have lots of insight and data around how customers engage with our systems and our platforms and products. But we also have active customers, both existing and new and potential that we're working with."
We went on to ask Steve about his view of the UK IT Industry Awards.
He said such events are really important as they "remind us of what we delivered and gives us a chance to celebrate outside of our own companies the things that we've achieved in the last year."
