Video QA: Technology Transformation Group, UK IT Industry Awards finalist

'Trust, governance and transparency aren't optional, they're now essential'

Ian Turfrey, CEO of Technology Transformation Group tells us how the company reached the shortlist in five different categories at the UK IT Industry Awards.

The UK IT Industry Awards are the largest and most well-known event in the technology industry calendar. Owned and operated by Computing and BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, the awards enjoy an unmatched level of professionalism and industry knowledge.

This year's winners were announced at a live awards ceremony on Wednesday 12th November in London, and Technology Transformation Group (TTG) was a finalist in five categories.

Before the awards, we talked to Ian Turfrey, CEO, Technology Transformation Group, to find out more about the company's biggest challenges and achievements over the past year.

Why do you think awards like the UK IT Industry Awards matter?

They shine a light on the impact technology has; not just on the systems and processes, but on the people, organisations and the wider world. They celebrate the teams behind the tech, the ones solving real-world problems and pushing the industry forward. And for us at TTG, it's all about recognising the kind of work that sets new standards and inspires others to raise their game.

What would winning one of these awards mean to your company?

It would mean a lot for us at TTG, not just because of the mark of excellence, but because it validates the way we work, putting our people first, staying ethical and delivering the outcomes that matter. It's a signal to our clients and our teams that we're not just building good tech, but we're helping organisations get smarter, faster and work with more purpose.

What would you say is your company's proudest achievement over the past year?

One that really stands out for us is the MENAS LightDues platform that we delivered for IFANS, the world's only independent lighthouse authority. Placing a legacy system with a modern cloud-based solution really now lets tankers get their environmental certificates in minutes instead of days. What this means for us is less fuel wasted, fewer delays and lower emissions into the seas. It's a great example of how our tech is now quietly making a global difference, protecting the marine environment while protecting and improving safety and sustainability.

What have been the biggest challenges of 2025 so far and how have you overcome them? How have your people helped with that?

I think we'd all say 2025 has been a rapid change. Economic pressures, fast-moving AI developments, and let's not forget the rising risks of cybersecurity keeping everyone on their toes. At TTG, we responded by staying collaborative, investing in new skills and keeping our values front and centre. Our team has been brilliant, adapting quickly, building agentic AI capabilities and continuing work that's ethical, efficient and of the highest quality.

How do you think the industry has changed over the past year and what changes do you think it still needs to make?

AI has gone mainstream. What has really shifted is a focus now on accountability. Organisations are starting to realise that trust, governance and transparency aren't optional, they're now essential. The industry has still got a lot of work to embed ethics into innovation and at TTG we see a chance for us to lead on this, to really show how the human-centred transformation can be just as responsible with commercially powered transformations.

What do you see as the main opportunities for the industry in the coming year? How do you plan to capitalise on those opportunities?

The big opportunity is in combining AI, data and sustainability to drive real-world outcomes. We're already doing this using predictive analytics, digital twins and agentic AI to really help clients make smarter decisions and be more resilient in their operations. So our focus is really simple: helping organisations use technology not just to perform better, but to do better - for their people, their customers and ultimately the planet.
