Rebecca Reynolds Jones

Part of the IT Leaders 100 - a list of the most influential IT leaders in the UK in 2025.

Rebecca is an IT director working in the non-profit sector who thrives in working for good. She has an energetic and innovative mindset, with a keen eye for inclusive teamwork - recognising that diverse perspectives at the table gives potential for the best overall discussion.

At the Meliore Foundation she has learned about creativity, embracing the counter-intuitive approaches to how teams deliver IT. Most of all, she says she is lucky to have a dedicated and self-motivated team - “Without them, we'd deliver nothing!”

What's the most exciting part of your current role?

Being able to come to work every day and use my professional skills to make a difference to the world we live in - everything we do is centred around positive impact.

What do you consider your greatest IT achievement of the last 12 months?

The breakthrough we are having in educating about the importance of risk-based cyber security approaches. Centring all our approaches to risk on projected impact helps out teams focus on what's most important.

What's the biggest challenge facing IT leaders today, and how are you tackling it?

Ensuring we have the available skills in the market is tough - especially in under-represented sectors of society. Recruiting on soft skills, and empowering our teams to go and find the hard skills they need for their work, has proven successful for us.

What piece of technology could you not live without, and why?

My calendar! As primitive as that sounds, it's my lifeline for staying organised and managing my time.

What excites you most about the future of IT?

To discover the things that haven't been invented yet - it's a world of possibilities and to witness those pioneering moments as well as how we, as a generation, learn to adopt new technologies responsibly and to regulate them is a constant learning process - AI being the recent obvious example.

What’s the strangest job you’ve ever had?

When I was 17 I helped pack garden bulbs into packets! We all have to start somewhere!!

If you could instantly master one new skill, what would it be?

Being able to pitch ideas and concepts to the audience in the clearest possible way - my mindset can be quite dynamic/fluid and articulating myself clearly isn't always easy.
