How did you get into IT?

An interest in technology that, following a number of years in a non-technology client-facing roles, led to me becoming a driving force in helping the business achieve its goals and improving client outcomes through the use of technology solutions.

What do you consider your greatest IT achievement of the last 12 months?

I have spent the last few years with my wider team focusing on the integration and transition of Saunderson House systems, technology and business into Rathbones Group. I have been incredibly proud with the approach taken to delivering a varied portfolio of stretching strategic business changing technology goals though a collaborative and supportive team culture leading to transformative business outcomes.

How do you ensure diversity is taken into account in your IT recruitment?

A key business as well as personal goal, which has led to me having a very diverse team. When recruiting, wherever possible, I brief recruiters to make sure that the shortlist of suitable candidates presented takes into consideration diversification criteria and objectives we may be looking to achieve. Throughout the recruitment process I will consider this alongside wider role suitability competencies and treat this with equal focus.

Which technology are you currently most excited by, and why?

Artificial intelligence has a lot of potential and an increasing number of use cases to add significant value to. Within the sector I work in, I can see improvements to regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and meeting with client requirements without removing the personal touch as immediate benefits from this exciting technology.

What would an outsider find the most surprising part of your job?

As my career as a technology professional has progressed this has resulted in a reduction in my direct access to technology platforms and ability to "play with" them. Additionally the considerable and important focus placed upon people and communication skills.

What's your secret talent?

Falconry. I have been a practising falconer for more years than I care to remember!

What makes you laugh?

The unexpected short quip.
