How did you get into IT?

I initially became interested in IT by aspiring and looking at what one of my older brothers was doing when I was quite young. I was initially keen on being able to programme games from magazine listings and then progressing independently from there...and become rather good at it, too!

What do you consider your greatest IT achievement of the last 12 months?

Over the last 12 months I've spent a considerable amount of time educating and providing thought leadership to client and business/prospects I encounter on a weekly basis, relating to corporate & enterprise level technical and solution architecture to drive their proficiency and businesses forward.

How do you ensure diversity is taken into account in your IT recruitment?

This is key to me, and so I ensure that for all roles within IT there is a diverse recruiting process. This ensures diverse genders, backgrounds, beliefs and experiences are all involved in the process (having recruited a diverse team it now makes it easier to involve them, and they love being included). In addition, I work closely with our internal/external recruitment teams, whereby a wide spectrum of candidates are included for each role, diverse and differing before we progress to the next stages.

Which technology are you currently most excited by, and why?

AI - there is so much noise about it, I'm really waiting for the "real AI" to stand up :-)

What would an outsider find the most surprising part of your job?

That I need to talk to people as much as I do. It's a lot, but I love it!

What's your secret talent?

I instantaneous roll my eyes when someone with a non-technical background attempts to explain technology principles or approaches for success to people who have a solid and proven technical background.

What makes you laugh?

Anything that isn't immediately or obviously funny - needs some brain cells to fathom the joke.
