One of the Tech Women Celebration 50 - women changing the ratio of the tech workforce

Jennifer Cox has over 18 years of experience in tech and in the cyber security industry. She supports her team who work with techies across the Globe in enabling best practices and cyber exposure prevention.

Jennifer is an Ambassador for Wentors global mentorship programme, WiCyS UK Affiliate - Leader for Ireland, an active member of WITS Ireland (Women in Technology and Science Ireland), WomenTech Community and WiCyS Global (Women in Cyber Security) and works hard to ensure diversity and inclusion within her industry by partaking in roles such as Judging at the Coolest Projects event for kids in the RDS, launching a mentoring project in Tenable, speaking at events such as BSides Dublin, WomenTech Global, BBWIC, CWiCS (Cisco Women in Cyber Security), CBF Fest (Coding Black Females Fest) HexCon, UK CyberWeek, Cyber Summit, WiCyS Global and more.

Jennifer considers her biggest achievement to date becoming a finalist in the CyberSecurity Woman of the World competition. She explains why: "This competition doesn't allow people to nominate themselves and you cannot go to a site link to nominate. The association reaches out to voluntary organisations and groups and asks them to submit someone that they feel fits the bill. As this is a global award that means that I was placed with the final 20 women globally in recognition of my work in cybersecurity and diversity in tech. This is super cool and gives me an additional platform on which I can continue to make the difference for diversity in tech in the future."

What would readers find surprising about Jennifer?

"Typically the thing that surprises people the most is my background.," she says. "My study before going into tech was in Theatre Studies and Psychology. I've worked in radio and produced stage plays. I've even written plays that were produced. Also, people are surprised when they hear I have four boys. The idea that a working mother of multiple children can succeed still catches people by surprise."
