Tell us about the nominee's biggest achievement to date

Victoria’s biggest achievement is building a software engineering career while completing a demanding degree in Computing & IT with Mathematics, graduating with First-Class Honours.

Over seven years, she balanced full-time employment with advanced computing and mathematics studies through distance learning. During that time, she progressed professionally, developed expertise in software engineering, cloud technologies and full-stack development, and ultimately joined Route 101 as a Full-Stack Developer.

She now develops modern applications using React, Python and AWS, applying her academic knowledge and practical experience to customer solutions. Her journey shows there is no single route into technology and offers an inspiring example to other women considering the field.

What is the most significant challenge the nominee has overcome?

Victoria’s most significant challenge was sustaining the demands of a full-time technology career while completing a degree in Computing & IT with Mathematics.

Over several years, she managed changing technologies, evolving job responsibilities and academic assessments without losing focus on either objective. She also continued developing practical skills in a fast-moving profession while deepening her expertise through formal study.

Graduating with First-Class Honours reflects not only her technical ability, but also her resilience, adaptability and self-discipline. The experience helped her build a broad skill set across software engineering, cloud technologies, mathematics, web development and problem-solving.

Tell us something about the nominee people would find surprising

Many people are surprised to learn that Victoria completed her degree entirely alongside a full-time career, studying through The Open University during evenings and weekends while meeting project deadlines and customer commitments.

Her experience is also unusually broad. In addition to full-stack development, cloud technologies and DevOps, she has worked in web design, e-commerce, branding and user experience. Earlier in her career, she ran a freelance web design business, creating websites and marketing assets for small businesses.

This blend of technical depth, creativity and commercial awareness helps Victoria consider both how software is built and how people experience it.
