Part of the Tech Women Celebration 50 – a curated list of some of the most inspirational women working at all levels of tech
Ann Maya is the EMEA CTO at Boomi. Ann has nearly 20 years in the software industry, serving varying roles - from software developer, application services consultant, solution architect, product manager and product marketing manager.
Ann has been at Boomi for six years and currently resides in London in the UK. To relax she's a keen tag rugby player and surfs and snowboards whenever near waves and mountains, respectively.
What does the nominee consider to be her biggest achievement to date?
Ann’s most significant achievement was transforming the go-to-market strategy for a newly acquired product at Boomi. She implemented a coordinated, data-driven approach that exceeded business goals in a highly competitive market.
Facing misaligned sales teams, overstretched engineers, and competing priorities, Ann quickly analysed revenue streams to identify sales strengths, customer profiles, and ideal markets. Her insights, such as how bundling the product increased deal sizes and visibility, led to a realignment of sales and marketing and new processes still used today. The business grew more than 100% year on year for two years, fully achieving acquisition goals.
Ann is most proud of empowering underutilized talent, promoting emerging leaders, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration through coaching, team building, and innovation labs. This drove both sales growth and stronger product capabilities, while boosting customer satisfaction and organisational trust.
Her focus on process innovation introduced data-driven dashboards, transparency, and shared ownership of innovation, creating clarity and momentum across teams.
Chris Port, Co-Founder and CEO of Noded AI, said: “Ann led us through moments that others would have caved in to and an ultimately successful outcome. She’s been integral to Boomi’s rocketship growth, combining technical expertise with customer rapport.”
Ann’s achievement showcases her ability to deliver exceptional commercial results while building empowered, high-performing teams, defining her as an outstanding role model for women in technology.
What is the most significant challenge the nominee has overcome?
Access to career-building opportunities has been a recurring challenge in Ann’s technology career. Early on, she often saw others with fewer credentials step into roles she knew she could excel in, until one manager finally recognised her mix of technical expertise and strategic thinking, which led to her first major promotion. The experience revealed a hard truth: talent and hard work aren’t always enough for women in tech; having a champion can be essential to unlocking opportunity.
Even after her breakthrough, barriers persisted. A colleague once joked that Ann was sent to “the island of unwanted toys,” assigned to neglected projects others had abandoned. Yet she turned these challenges into opportunities, consistently delivering unexpected success. In one role, she discovered a product line was no longer viable and, despite the personal risk, proposed a re-architecture built on composability. Her integrity and focus on long-term value earned leadership’s trust and showcased her ability to unite business and technical strategy.
These experiences shaped Ann’s leadership style today, defined by resilience, honesty, and a commitment to tackling hard problems for the greater good. Her journey reflects both the challenges women face in technology and the strength it takes to break through them.
Tell us something about the nominee that people would find surprising
Few people know that Ann plays competitive tag rugby at national and international levels. What began as a casual pub conversation quickly became a serious commitment, and she now competes in London leagues across mixed and women’s teams.
Having never played team sports before moving to London, Ann discovered that rugby’s strategy and teamwork closely mirror her professional approach—leveraging diverse strengths, thinking ahead, and learning from both wins and losses. She often references “the anthill”: individuals working with shared purpose and complementary skills, a concept that guides how she builds and leads teams.
Ann also holds a psychology degree with a focus on cognitive science, deepening her understanding of human behaviour and how people interact with technology and decision-making.
