Atos and Google Cloud team up on digital transformation effort

Atos and Google will help global enterprises utilise emerging technology

Digital transformation specialist Atos has inked a global agreement with Google to help enterprises benefit from cloud, big data and machine learning technologies.

The partnership will see Atos and Google Cloud create and sell a range of hybrid cloud, machine learning and collaboration solutions to enterprises across the world.

As part of the deal, Google Cloud will be positioned as the preferred public cloud partner of Atos.

The first phase of the partnership will focus on Atos customers, with the firm also planning to open new innovation centres in France, the UK and the US.

They said the aim of the project is to go "beyond the traditional IT landscape" and help firms tap into data lakes, data management, analytics and cognitive technologies.

"Machine Learning (ML) is key to discovering and leveraging new business and marketing opportunities, but also demands secure solutions to protect data against cyber risks and ensure compliance," explained the firms in a release.

Atos said it is "working with Google Cloud to provide businesses worldwide with secure cutting-edge solutions".

For instance, Atos will combine its Canopy Orchestrated Hybrid Cloud with the Google Cloud Platform. The firm claims that it leverages "scale, security, reliability and availability while ensuring data localisation".

Atos will also offer its customers access to a container orchestration service based on the Google Kubernetes Engine. This will "drive hybrid cloud adoption in global enterprise organizations," it said.

For data analytics and machine learning, Atos said it will "leverage Google Cloud's ML APIs to create industry-specific solutions across multiple verticals".

To expand its digital workforce solutions, Atos is planning to create a new G Suite practice, which will help firms leverage automation to boost productivity.

The new research and development centres, which are planned for Europe and the US, will let firms "solve business challenges and innovate". They will be managed by machine learning experts.

"I'm extremely pleased to announce today this first global partnership with Google Cloud, one of the world's leaders in Artificial Intelligence. Together, we will enable fast and smooth adoption of AI for enterprises," said Thierry Breton, chairman and CEO of Atos.

"By combining Atos integration capabilities and technology expertise with Google Cloud technology, we enable organizations to thrive in the most innovative and trusted environment, in compliance with global regulations. With this partnership, Atos becomes the "last mile" of the digital information chain."

Diane Greene, CEO of Google Cloud, added: "We are excited to collaborate with Atos to bring Google Cloud to more companies.

"Together with Atos we will allow companies to transform and improve their business by enabling access to the most advanced cloud infrastructure, cutting-edge machine learning capabilities and intelligent collaboration tools."
