Hiscox is looking for a chief technology officer

Insurance company is looking for a CTO in London

Insurance provider Hiscox is on the lookout for a chief technology officer (CTO), to renew the company's technical vision and oversee all aspects of the firm's technology development.

The insurer, which is headquartered in Bermuda and listed on the London Stock Exchange, said in a job advert that the role would be built around six key objectives.

These include understanding Hiscox's business strategy, and supporting and enhancing it through technology.

The new CTO will have to assess external risks and opportunities, research new technologies, and assess whether they can add business value to the company, while defining and leading Hiscox's technical strategy across applications and infrastructure.

The post-holder will be tasked with defining and ensuring compliance with approved architecture policy, overseeing the selection and successful implementation of new products, tools and platforms, and attracting, developing, and leading a team of tech professionals.

Within those objectives, Hiscox has provided further details of what the CTO will be expected to do. This includes assisting the group CIO in leading the overall IT strategy, attending external events and technology conferences as an ambassador for Hiscox, and establishing governance around technology standards and best practices.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for the successful end-to-end delivery of what Hiscox calls its 'technology change portfolio', incorporating innovation and DevOps, among other areas of IT investment.

A salary was not included in the job advert. The full-time, permanent role is based in London.
