Cloudreach continues shopping spree with ETA acquisition
UK company is on the expansion trail following February acquisition by Blackstone
It's not often that we see a UK firm acquiring one in the US - but Cloudreach has done just that, for the second time in two weeks.
Shortly after merging with US-based Cloudamize, Cloudreach, which partners with AWS, Microsoft and Google, has acquired professional services firm Emerging Technology Advisors, in a deal backed by private equity firm and parent company Blackstone. Terms were not disclosed.
Cloudreach is a cloud adoption firm, helping companies to move to the cloud by providing capabilities to enable, integrate and operate cloud platforms like AWS. It works with organisations including BP and Volkswagen. ETA works in a similar space, using emerging technologies like machine learning, blockchain and serverless architecture to help its clients to modernise their business.
Cloudreach says that the acquisition will combine its ‘leadership in enterprise cloud adoption, migration and optimisation' with ETA's skills in digital transformation. The firm will also expand on ETA's existing community efforts, including the New Da Vinci programme, NodeBots. The Da Vinci programme aims to prepare young people for work in AI, robotics and coding.
Cloudreach CEO and co-founder Pontus Noren said, "ETA brings a wealth of experience, excellent reputation in the community and a wonderful culture. Core to our vision to be the category leader for software-enabled cloud services is the ability to enable our customers to modernise applications and innovate using hyperscale cloud. ETA moves us towards completing that vision. We are very excited to extend the Cloudreach family with such a talented organisation."
"Our team has a passion for pioneering solutions to complex (and often, novel) technical challenges for our clients," said Glynn LoPresti, ETA co-founder, "and we've found a similar acumen in the Cloudreach team. This merger will combine their leadership in enterprise cloud adoption with our expertise in digital transformation and corporate innovation. We look forward to joining the Cloudreach family and providing clients and communities with the cutting-edge technologies of today, along with a vision for tomorrow."
Cloudreach told Computing that it aims to almost double its staff count globally over the next year, taking on a further 200 employees.
