National Theatre moves to cloud security with Forcepoint
Cloud solution replaced legacy on-premise product
The National Theatre in London works to both educate and entertain its visitors, with 3,000 performances of 30 productions each year, not to mention those who watch the broadcast productions. With so many guests, the organisation's IT strategy necessarily focuses on protecting end users, making the GDPR an obvious concern. To mitigate the risks involved, it is switching from on-premise cybersecurity to Forepoint's Web Security Cloud.
As well as the common challenges facing any company aiming to comply with the GDPR, the National Theatre's legacy cybersecurity solution was too old to meet the required changes; for example, its on-premise limitation created a single point of failure. George Tunnicliffe, head of IT operations, and his team switched to Forcepoint, to provide a centrally-managed security solution for users and data.
"The GDPR impacts our entire security portfolio," said Tunnicliffe, "so it's crucial that we are in a good position when it rolls out next year. Our strategy is to take into consideration employee behaviour as well as technology that protects our end users, our IT department and our actual business and data. Having these elements already in place can be the difference between making a few minor tweaks or a full systems update to stay within regulation for data protection and security."
The cloud solution was installed in days using Forcepoint's preconfigured templates, which include GDPR-compliant examples.
Tunnicliffe added, "Forcepoint offered a true-cloud scenario. It meant that we didn't have to adjust our infrastructure in order to implement this solution and any future solutions, which is my favourite way of doing things...
"Since deployment, it's been very quiet. We've not had to worry about the security solution - maintaining it or changing it. Forcepoint Web Security Cloud has been the perfect fit for the National Theatre."
