Alzheimer's Society on the lookout for a CTO

£100k role for 'digital and IT champion' at Alzheimer's Society

The UK's leading dementia charity, the Alzheimer's Society, is on the lookout for a chief technology officer (CTO).

The organisation, which aims to find new treatments and ultimately, a cure for dementia, posted a job ad for a CTO which states that digital transformation and IT at the organisation isn't just about implementing new technology.

"It's about innovation and making a radical difference to all affected by dementia by fundamentally changing the way people work, communicate and collaborate in pursuit of our ambitious strategic goals," it said.

The CTO would be the charity's principal ‘digital and IT champion' who will develop, drive and deliver the technology the Society needs to meet its strategic aims. This includes 'digital thinking and delivery' across all of the charity's functions including marketing, fundraising, finance, communications, HR, operations and service delivery.

The chosen candidate will lead a 45-strong digital and IT team, define the key business challenges for the organisation from a digital perspective and manage substantial budgets and business cases for major IT and digital investments. They will report directly to the director of strategy and change.

The Alzheimer's Society said that it wanted someone who had a successful track record in digital systems transformation and of leading large scale change. They would have to be qualified to degree level or equivalent and will have experience of working on the creative and technical development of existing and new digital products.

The successful candidate will have to build strong senior internal relationships, have outstanding leadership qualities and managerial and analytical skills. They will also need proven ability in embedding new practices in digital and technology across an organisation, expertise in managing large, multi-year budgets, and the confidence to handle competing priorities.

The full-time, permanent position requires 35 hours of work a week, with the organisation encouraging home-based working one or two days a week.

It is based in Central London, with a salary of around £100,000 per annum, plus benefits. The closing date for applications is Monday 5 June at 9am, and interviews will take place on the weeks commencing 12th and 19th June.
