Trivago deploys Dropbox Business worldwide

High uptake and Office 365 integration led global hotel search company to opt for Dropbox over rivals

Global hotel search platform trivago has selected Dropbox Business as its enterprise file synchronisation and sharing platform.

Dropbox will rollout 1,300 'business seats' to Trivago as part of the deal, in which financial terms were not disclosed.

Trivago was the first hotel search engine in Germany, and has grown quickly since it was launched back in 2005. It now has a presence in more than 55 markets around the world.

According to its head of business operations and strategy, Sian Williams, the company now employs 1,200 people and is currently growing at 10 new employees per week.

"We see ourselves as a fast-growing technology company that is serving businesses and consumers around the globe across the hotel search sector, and we want to equip our talented employees with the best tools possible," she said, adding that the company is building a digital tool kit for all of its employees to be able to use.

"To promote entrepreneurial passion, we have the best tools on the market, and it's great that Dropbox encourages the speed we want to work at," she stated.

Prior to selecting Dropbox, Trivago conducted trials with several other enterprise file synchronisation, sharing and collaboration platforms before deciding which product should best fit the company's needs.

A key reason why Dropbox was chosen was the high rate of adoption of Dropbox already present within the organisation, and its integration with Microsoft Office 365.

"Dropbox and Office 365 work seamlessly with each other, and that integration was instrumental in a smooth deployment. People were actively wanting to take part in the trial, and we saw a huge uptake in uploading and sharing files via Dropbox, so we immediately knew we struck a chord with our employees,'' Williams explained.

When it came to implementing the product, Trivago had a ‘Dropbox day', which Williams said "brought a real buzz into the company".

"We're seeing rapid growth in Dropbox use and we have a Slack group dedicated to Dropbox learning and best practice, which really shows the team ethic we have at Trivago," she suggested.

Trivago listed on the US Nasdaq stock exchange last summer, and after expanding across Europe, North America and Canada, has ventured into Latin America and Asia Pacific. It is also constructing a new headquarters campus in Dusseldorf, which will house 2,000 staff.
