Siri can now make calls with Skype in latest update

Skype for Business will get the same updates in October which will be key for workers on the move

Apple's Siri can now make calls through Skype, in just one of the updates of the latest version of the Microsoft-owned app on iOS.

New integration features mean that Skype 6.25, which is available on the iPhone and iPad, can enable people to use the voice command function on Siri to call Skype contacts - a boost for workers who are on the go and want to communicate over the phone without having to open and navigate through the Skype app.

The updated app enables users to store Skype contact information directly in iOS contacts, removing the need to open the Skype app to make audio or video calls. Skype also revealed that its calls would now show up as normal calls on iOS 10.

All of the features are set to become available on Skype for Business iOS apps in October, while the consumer version of the app is already available to download for iPhones and iPads on the App Store.

Earlier this month, Apple introduced real-time collaboration with its iWork cross-platform suite of office productivity tools, enabling people to work collaboratively on the same iWork documents across iPhone, iPad, Mac laptops and iMac desktops.

The firm is clearly focused on improving the way users collaborate and communicate for work purposes using technology.
