Apple iPhone 7 latest leaks: 256GB storage and a 2.4GHz A10 microprocessor

And a dual-lens camera, too - but no headphone jack

Rumours and leaks regarding the new Apple iPhone 7 are hotting up in advance of the unveiling of the new device on Wednesday.

And, according to KGI Securities' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a good track record when it comes to Apple leaks, Apple will finally dump the 16GB model with the iPhone 7 in favour of 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options.

It will use a new A10 chip manufactured by TSMC that could top out at 2.4GHz-2.45GHz, according to Kuo, and have support for FeliCa NFC.

And the handset will be offered in two new colours: Dark Black and Piano Black, wiht the Space Grey option canned, according to Kuo. That means that the smartphone will be offered in five colours, including Silver/White, Gold and Rose Gold.

The report also noted that the Piano Black model, which will have a high-gloss finish, will be in short supply at launch, and may be offered only on high-capacity iPhone 7 models.

Kuo's report also adds weight to previous speculation that the iPhone 7 could follow the Galaxy S7 with waterproofing. The report, via MacRumors, claimed that the handset will have IPX7 water resistance matching that of the original Apple Watch, protecting it against splashes, showers and even brief dips in water of up to one metre deep.

There's a suggestion that the earpiece receiver on the iPhone 7 will also be a speaker thanks to the addition of a new audio amplifier.

The reports claimed that the new iPhones will feature dual-lens camera technology, enabling improved photo taking, particularly by supporting optical zoom in a similar way to digital cameras.

Beyond that, Kuo doesn't have many surprises in store, instead reiterating that Apple is likely to dump the 3.5mm headphone jack - a move that has been well-trailed and well criticised - and that both iPhone 7 models will have a pressure-sensitive 'click-less' home button.

Apple will finally unveil the iPhone 7 on 7 September, with Computing will cover all the major announcements from the event.
