HSBC on the hunt for an information security standards manager
Manager will be responsible for creating, developing and maintaining global information security standards for the bank
HSBC is looking for an information security standards manager, as the battle for cyber security talent at some of the biggest companies in the world heats up.
The manager would be responsible for creating, developing and maintaining global information security standards at the bank, as well as providing consultancy and guidance to stakeholders on the associated governance processes.
In its job ad, HSBC said that the manager's responsibilities will include managing a diverse set of stakeholders in order to achieve the overarching objectives, including: IT security teams, IT operational teams, information security and risk, audit and compliance.
The chosen candidate will ensure consistent and accurate controls which are both verifiable and implementable, as well as delivering professional technical authorship of the standards.
They will have past experience working in a relevant role such as a technical editor, author or writer, have experience working in a relevant environment and in a relevant market. HSBC said that experience in an IT or an IT security environment was desirable but not essential.
They will also understand how to successfully implement change, and he or she will also need experience in planning projects, building effective networks both internally and externally, as well as promoting and leading best practice in risk and compliance management in a similar organisation.
The manager will be based within HSBC's information security standards team within the HSBC operations, services and technology (HOST) IT security function.
The role is based in either Park Street, London or Sheffield. Details of salary were not disclosed.
Companies are inevitably paying more attention to information security, with the threat of larger fines looming as the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) come into play.
