KPMG looking for a CTO to report to CIO Edel McGrath

The CTO will have to create and maintain a digital strategy to move the firm forward as a technology-enabled business

Professional services firm KPMG is looking for a CTO to report to the company's UK CIO, Edel McGrath.

According to a job ad, the CTO will be responsible for responding to the IT demands and needs of the business. He or she will act as an adviser to McGrath, who has been CIO at KPMG for over four years. They will provide visibility of technology and service opportunities and outline their relevance to the company's overarching strategy.

The CTO's key accountabilities will include providing guidance on IT priorities, and creating and maintaining a digital strategy to move the firm forward as a technology-enabled mobile-first business.

He or she will have to establish the appropriate and relevant architecture governance and assurance, analyse the degree of risk associated with decisions and identify the threats and challenges in the execution of change.

The successful candidate will also have to come up with new ideas, work with other business IT leaders and develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders such as the COO.

KPMG said candidates must have a good understanding of business understanding, excellent team working and communication skills, and have the ability to be a "blue-sky thinker". Candidates should also be able to remain calm under pressure, respond quickly to issues and handle conflict appropriately.

Applicants should have significant experience in an IT service environment, with a number of years in a CTO or leadership role. They should also have experience in outsourced and shared services management and the ability to analyse complex architecture and develop new innovative concepts.

The CTO job is based in Watford, and travel is required. Details about salary are not included in the job specification.
