The top DevOps jobs to apply for now

'DevOps engineer' second on list of biggest increases in demand in the jobs market. So, who's hiring right now?

There is a lot of hype around DevOps, the integration of developers who build and test IT services, and the teams that are responsible for deploying and maintaining IT operations.

Indeed many, such as Specsavers global CIO Phil Pavitt, were suspicious when they first heard the term, believing it to be "just another Gartner gimmick".

But Pavitt, as well as John Lewis IT director Paul Coby and Greater London Authority IT chief David Munn are convinced that there is merit in using DevOps, albeit they're all in different stages of implementing the approach.

The approach has also meant the introduction of a new job title - the DevOps engineer.

When Computing looked at the top tech jobs for 2016, DevOps engineer came second on the list of biggest increases in demand between 2014 and 2015 (according to CV-Library), indicating that many organisations that are adopting DevOps methodologies are attempting to hire people who have worked as a developer and in operations - most likely those that have already been working in a DevOps environment.
