London Stock Exchange hires new CIO and COO

Combined duties will be taken over by Chris Corrado, a former CTO at Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank and eBay

The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has hired Chris Corrado from financial services firm MSCI to become its group CIO and COO.

Corrado, who has been based in the US up until now, has held senior CTO roles at global banks including Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and UBS. As well as performing roles in the financial services industry, Corrado has experience as CTO of eBay, CIO at AT&T Wireless and as SVP of technology, strategic initiatives and business architecture at US mobile technology protection firm Asurion.

He joins from MSCI, where he has been a managing director, responsible for technology, data services and programme management as a CIO/CTO since 2013.

Corrado, who will be based in London, will also be a member of the LSEG executive committee. He officially began his role this week, and LSEG CEO Xavier Rolet said he was confident that the group will benefit from Corrado's "deep experience" as the organisation "continues to diversify its business and grow its global footprint".

Corrado replaces Antoine Shagoury, who also held the group COO and CIO roles. He had joined LSEG back in 2010 as group CIO, and subsequently took on the additional duties of the group COO. According to LSEG, he has been integral to the integration of the group's most complex acquisitions including FTSE, LCH.Clearnet Group and Russell Investments' index business.

Shagoury decided to leave LSEG in order to be closer to his family in the US. Back in 2012, he told Computing's sister publication Waters Technology that he wasn't sure what his ideal job would be.

"You know, I actually have no idea," he said. "I love what I do, and I can't see it stopping unless I run out of energy," he said.
