Nationwide Building Society outsources IT infrastructure services to Capgemini
Debra Bailey, CIO at Nationwide, says that deal was put in place to ensure the building society could keep up with customer demands
Nationwide Building Society has signed a contract with Capgemini that will see the consultancy provide IT infrastructure services to the UK building society.
The five-year contract includes the provision of service integration, service desk and end user services. According to Capgemini, the aim of the agreement is to simplify and modernise Nationwide's end user IT experience.
Debra Bailey, CIO at Nationwide, said that in the age of always-on connectivity and mobile banking, customers expected 24-hour access and value-added services from their financial institutions.
"To keep and attract new customers, we are creating a world-class IT function that can better handle these changing demands," she said.
Bailey explained that Nationwide chose Capgemini because of its "collaborative approach, core company values and financial services experience".
"[These things] made them the clear choice to become one of our key IT providers. We look forward to working with them to deliver the best possible experience for our colleagues and customers," she said.
Nationwide will be using Capgemini's Intelligent Service Centre, which, according to the IT services provider, applies insights from data and analytics to improve business processes.
The building society will also be using Capgemini's My Workspace solution, which enables users to access their data and services using any device - and the systems integrator claims that regardless of which device a user uses, the platform ensures that the security of the organisation will not be compromised.
Nationwide will also be working alongside Capgemini's business process outsourcing team in order to get a better degree of clarity and control of its IT vendor ecosystem. The aim, said Capgemini, is to make cost savings, avoid risk and make better informed decisions.
Earlier this year, Nationwide revealed that it had picked TestPlant's eggPlant tools as its testing platform for its mobile and multi-browser development.
