Surrey and Borders NHS Trust to implement CXAIR for analytics

Hosted solution part of NHS Trust drive to shift IT off-site

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is to implement CXAIR software in a bid to improve information management and analytics across the Trust.

The web-based platform will be hosted off-site, in line with the Trust's strategy, which is part of a drive to shift all of the systems and solutions off-site to be hosted securely outside of the organisation. Staff across all 47 sites will be able to instantly access systems and data through a single web portal.

The five year contract, which will see Connexica's CXAIR solution replace the Trust's existing data warehouse system, will enable Surrey and Borders to quickly and seamlessly integrate data from the Trust using what Connexica describes as CXAIR's smart search technology. This will deliver user-orientated analytics and statutory returns from within the solution.

"It will enable us to analyse research, innovation and service transformation, and give us detailed benchmarking insight against peers, allowing us to therefore improve our service of care," said Surrey and Borders' Director of Innovation and Development, Dr Helen Rostill.

The Trust employs more than 2,600 staff across 47 sites and had examined a wide range of alternatives. The Trust believes that the implementation of the CXAIR solution will provide a number of strategic benefits, including instant access to systems and data via a single web portal.

"CXAIR was originally written for the health industry and is used extensively within the NHS for the analysis of patient data in Foundation Trusts, CCGs, Community Interest Companies (CIC), HSCIC, and public and private care providers," according to Connexica.

The project will be delivered in three phases: the first will see the replacement of the existing data warehouse with tactical enhancements to reporting. This will be followed by new data sources, including external data feeds from the World Health Organisation and NHS England, and will provide secure access to specialist reporting to external stakeholders. The final phase will cover the entirety of the organisational data sources, including non-patient systems.
