West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive selects ProjectVault for secure document management

'It's so simple but very effective,' says Mark Ashmore of software that will aid Birmingham Metro extension

Centro, the local government organisation responsible for public transport services in the West Midlands, has selected ProjectVault from Service Point to manage online documents securely as it works to improve transport infrastructure.

The deal will give partners of West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive that are working on the £127m Birmingham City Centre Metro extension access to a single, secure platform from which they can access and manage all documents related to the scheme. The deal will run for five years.

Part of the reason Centro selected the Service Point solution was to ensure that public transport service staff could upload and manage documents via a single piece of software, making accessing and editing plans and projects much more efficient and simple.

By using the new system, Centro staff should have fewer opportunities for making errors.

"It can be difficult when you're working with several partners on a project of this size to retain the latest version of all documents," said Mark Ashmore, Metro health and safety manager at Centro.

"Things can quickly become over-complicated as each company relies on their own software systems and programmes. With ProjectVault all that changes. You have one platform that everyone feeds into. It's so simple but very effective."

Service Point welcomed Centro's decision to deploy its solution across public transport services management.

"We are really pleased that Centro chose ProjectVault. We know that the team will quickly see the benefits to this platform. It is an ideal option for collaborative working," said ProjectVault divisional manager Dal Lehal.

"It's exciting to know that thanks to this software we are able to support projects like the Birmingham City Centre Metro extension," he concluded.
