Cardiff University looking to replace platform on which Oracle E-Business Suite runs

University looking for new system to 'reduce administrative burden on researchers and professional services staff'

Cardiff University is looking to replace the platform on which Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) runs in a bid to improve agility and efficiency.

The new system must provide better information for informed planning and decision-making as well as providing performance management information, according to a notice on the Official Journal of the European Union website.

Furthermore, the university wants the new system to reduce the administrative burden on researchers and professional services staff and increase their capacity and capability to do more.

Potential suppliers should note that Cardiff University wants to identify a partner to support the system for five or more years. It wants the costs to be set for the lifetime of the system, and it aims to ensure that the supplier provides a stable platform for the upgrade to any later release of the E-Business Suite such as R12.2.

The contract is split into two lots: the first is for a cloud hosting service and the second is for an in-house hosted solution. Tenders may be submitted for one or both lots.

"The system has to be a good fit with Cardiff University's IT infrastructure now and in the future. The system provided must support and be compatible with the university's current network and server infrastructure without requiring any changes to our current operational configuration," the tender notice reads.

The five-year contract is covered by the Government Procurement Agreement. Financial estimates for the contracts were not disclosed.
