Asos CIO Pete Marsden leaves post 'by mutual consent'

Asos says that it is "reviewing the management structure of its IT department" following the departure

The CIO of e-commerce giant Asos, Pete Marsden, has stepped down from his post after two years at the company.

Marsden, who had previously held roles at RBS and BBC Worldwide, helped the company to grow by ensuring that the IT kept up with expansions into new international locations, such as China.

Drapers reports that Marsden has already left his post, but it is unclear whether he has started a new role elsewhere.

Marsden had previously been chief technology officer and then CIO for Egg, the online bank set-up by insurer Prudential, where he worked for nearly 14 years.

In 2007, he became vice-president of IT and networks at Orange UK before being given the role of CTO by BBC Worldwide. Soon after, he became head of development at RBS in September 2011, before heading to the online retail sector with Asos as CIO in September 2012.

According to an Asos spokesperson, the fashion retailer is "reviewing the management structure of its IT department following the departure of Pete Marsden by mutual consent".

The spokesperson added that a process to find Marsden's successor is underway, and that the firm is ruling out neither internal or external appointments.
