NIKE picks Juniper Networks to build cloud infrastructure

"Just do it," NIKE tells Juniper Networks

NIKE has selected Juniper Networks to build a data centre for its cloud and network infrastructure.

The deal will see Juniper Networks provide the sportswear producer and retailer with Metafabric architecture, offering a scalable network architecture which will serve as the basis for virtualising multiple NIKE data centres around the world.

With the shift towards a cloud architecture, NIKE said that it expects to see an improved application performance across the company as it looks to take advantage of automation and data analytics tools.

"NIKE is focused on elevating and accelerating innovation in our products, services and our digital ecosystem," said NIKE chief information officer Anthony Watson.

"This requires progressive and agile technology solutions that keep pace with our growth, which is what Juniper's solutions offer."

Juniper Networks welcomed the contract with NIKE.

"Enterprises are re-engineering their business models in light of changing customer behaviour and emerging technologies," said Juniper Networks CEO Shaygan Kheradpir.

"Managing this transformation requires an intelligent and comprehensive, high-IQ network infrastructure that seamlessly adapts to business demands. It also requires building private clouds that deliver applications with high performance and agility.

"Juniper's technologies enable customers to realise the benefits of carrier-class, ultra-scalable cloud data centre solutions that are virtualised, secure and flexible enough to accommodate the performance demands of their clients anywhere, anytime."
